Yancey County Campgrounds

With the Black Mountains, Pisgah National Forest, and the clear water of the Toe and Cane Rivers, Yancey County is an outdoor paradise. The Toe River Campground is located just off Highway 80 and has great amenities including a pool, river kayaks and a camp store. Carolina Hemlocks and Black Mountain Campgrounds are both operated the US Forest Service. Mount Mitchell State Park, located off the Blue Ridge Parkway, has a 9-site walk-in campground.

Beyond Burnsville & Yancey County

There’s additional lodging in the surrounding areas including Spruce Pine and Bakersville in Mitchell County, about 30 minutes from Burnsville, and Mars Hill in Madison County, also about 30 minutes. Asheville is 35 to 40 minutes away.
