The Burnsville Metric
The Burnsville Metric is a 60.7 mile bike ride that takes place in Yancey & Mitchell County, North Carolina on the last Saturday in April. The course begins & ends at Burnsville Town Square. For some riders, it’s a race to the finish. They charge hard out of the gate and never let up. For others, it’s a personal challenge, and a ride through the mountains on a spring day. This year the post-ride party will be at Homeplace Beer Company on South Main with a foodtruck parked outside.
In addition to the 60.7 mile loop, there’s also a 43-mile loop option. Registration and packet pick-up takes place at Burnsville Town Center from 7:15am to 8:45am on the morning of the event. The ride begins promptly at 9am. Each rider must wear a helmet, and sign a waiver. Riders under 18 need to have a parent co-sign the waiver. Early registration is encouraged, but you can also register the morning of the race. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (828) 682-7413.
Burnsville is the perfect weekend destination for people to get together at the Metric. In addition to the inns, bed & breakfasts, and area motels, there are numerous houses and vacation rentals available in Yancey County.
A food truck will be available after the ride. One of the event’s sponsors, Homeplace Beer Company, is hosting a party for cyclists and friends & family. As festivities are finalized, we’ll post more info about the foodtruck and the after party.
