The festival gives people a chance to spend time with authors in a friendly, intimate setting, and discuss the books they’ve written and ones they’re currently working on.

Writing Workshops

Writers of all experience levels can take part in a variety of workshops designed to give people a chance to spend quality development time with instructors and fellow writers.

Story Development

Many people taking part in the workshops have books in development, or ones they’re currently researching. Teachers and facilitators work with students and aspiring writers to improve their storytelling abilities. It’s a great opportunity for writers to get together and learn from each other.

Personal Storytelling

Although the theme changes each year at the Literary Festival, the commitment is always to personal storytelling, sharing of experiences, and using books and the writing process to inspire and connect people together.

Malaprop’s Bookstore from Asheville sells books written by the authors, journalists & writers who appear at the festival. It’s a great chance to find new original voices. Malaprop’s operates inside the Town Center throughout the event. Credit cards accepted.

In addition to writers and musicians, Carolina Mountains Literary Festival also features spoken word artists and live performances by comedy troupes, acting groups, and solo artists.
