Burnsville & Yancey Churches

There are many wonderful churches in Burnsville and Yancey County. Here are four members of the Chamber. Each congregation extends a heartfelt invitation to anyone wanting to attend their worship services, classes and social gatherings.

First Presbyterian Church

We are a congregation which was organized in 1897 to worship God and to provide the first school for the children of Yancey County. Today, we strive to be a vibrant, loving, diverse congregation following the example and teachings of Jesus Christ both locally and globally. Phone (828) 682-4789.

Higgins Memorial United Methodist Church

Jesus tells us in Matthew 22:37-40, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Phone (828) 682-2835.

St. Thomas Episcopal Church

Our celebrations of Holy Eucharist (also called Holy Communion) are held at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. At St. Thomas we have an open table: ALL who seek God in Christ are invited to receive the Bread and Wine of Communion. Phone (828) 682-0037.

West Burnsville Baptist Church

We believe that we are to worship God, proclaim the gospel to all people, minister to persons in need, and grow in Christlikeness by giving ourselves to continual prayer (Acts 6:4a); giving ourselves to the ministry of the word (Acts 6:4b); growing in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 5:18a); and growing in the knowledge of Jesus Christ (2 Peter 5:18b).
