The Orchard at Altapass - Town & Country / Jonah Riddle @ The Orchard at Altapass

1pm: Town & Country:  A band playing the music of their region.

3pm: Jonah Riddle: He takes care of banjo duties in the group, playing a style that is quickly fading away in today’s business.  You can easily hear the Stanley, Scruggs, and Osbourne influences in his sound, the sounds of the pioneers.  Grayson is on guitar and does all of the groups lead singing.

MUSIC IN THE MOUNTAINS FOLK FESTIVAL @ Burnsville Town Center

Toe River Arts’ Annual Music in the Mountains Folk Festival is coming to the Burnsville Town Center on Saturday, September 21 from 5:30 to 8:30pm. The Annual Festival, sponsored by Mountain Community Health Partnership, and now in its 34th year, will honor Bill and Judy Carson who have devoted their time to to preserving the history, heritage, and culture of the Blue Ridge Mountains at the historic Orchard at Altapass by protecting the underlying orchard land with its apples, wetlands, butterflies, and other natural features; and educating the public about the Appalachian experience.

This year’s line up will feature musical performances from True Blue, Terry McKinney, Will Ritter, Randy Flack, and a few more special guests. The evening will begin with the great mountain sounds of the Toe River Arts Traditional Arts Program for Students (TAPS) and will be hosted by Emcee, Bruce Ikard.

You’ll find an evening of entertainment resonating to the old and the new from our traditional performers. Music In The Mountains Folk Festival is a tribute to our region’s diverse musical heritage. Our evening celebration of traditional performers is uncommon in diversity and artistic excellence.
