Emerald Village Black Light Mine Tour @ Emerald Village
Oct 19 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Emerald Village Black Light Mine Tour @ Emerald Village

Looking for an experience that’s “out of this world”? Emerald Village offers night-time underground mine tours that unlock vibrant hidden colors available only under ultraviolet light, commonly called black light. The brilliant coatings in the Bon Ami Mine are largely deposits of Hyalite Opal, a true form of opal found in this area. Under shortwave ultraviolet light, these coatings fluoresce or glow a vivid lime green. The effect, underground at night, is stunning!

TRAC Holiday Studio Tour @ Toe River Arts Center
Dec 6 – Dec 8 all-day
TRAC Holiday Studio Tour @ Toe River Arts Center | Burnsville | North Carolina | United States

The Toe River Studio Tour is perhaps the largest and the longest running studio tour in the country; you will find craftspeople and artists in nearly every medium, many tops in their field and several new-to-the-tour participants.

FREE, self-guided, this adventure will lead you to some unique places situated between Mt. Mitchell and Roan Mountain. Visitors travel through valleys, past streams, across rivers, over hilltops, and experience breathtaking mountain vistas as they those many out-of-the-way studios. Meet the artists, see where they create and where they live.

TRAC sponsors a Meet-The-Artist reception at their Spruce Pine Gallery on Friday evening after the tour closes for the day. A sampling of participants will be on display geographically so one can plan a route for the rest of their journey.

Start making your reservations for your cabin in the woods for the weekend now (visit www.toeriverarts.com) for a listing of what’s available in the area.
