The Burnsville-Yancey Chamber of Commerce works to support & promote the local economy for business owners, property owners and residents. Referral System 

Chamber Membership directories are provided in all relocation packages and by request to all visitors.
 Members are recommended to all inquiring visitors and callers.

Newspaper Column

Chamber newsletters and e-blasts provide up-to-date information about the Chamber & the membership as well as notification of Chamber activities for publication in the local newspaper.

Annual event available to exhibit your business to the public.

After Hours Mixers

Every month between May and November, individual Chamber members host After Hours Mixers to give local business owners, residents, and others interested in the local economy a chance to get together, socialize, get to know each other, support each others’ businesses and endeavors, and connect together as a community. The event is free, and always held on Thursday.

What We Do



The Travel & Tourism Committee participates in state & regional co-op advertisements to drive business to 
our area.  The committee also initiates many special projects such as brochure distribution, media visits, county maps & brochures, and trade show exhibits.


Chamber Sponsored Events

Mt. Mitchell Crafts Fair, Open House, Winterfest, other membership events



The Chamber awards two $1,000 scholarship to local high school seniors each year. A luncheon is also 
sponsored to honor local NC Scholars.


Regional & State Involvement

The Chamber maintains membership in the Blue Ridge Parkway Association,  Blue Ridge Mountain Host 
(a regional marketing organization), and the North Carolina Travel Industry Association.


Local Initiatives

Our partners include local government, Economic Development Commission, NC Department of 
Commerce, High Country Council of Governments, and Mayland Community College. The Chamber is also 
involved with the Cultural Resource Commission, Toe River Arts, Blue Ridge Heritage Council, and the Burnsville Main Street program.



Members have the opportunity to serve on the following annual committees: Business, Events, Finance, Travel & Tourism, and Winterfest. There are also numerous volunteer opportunities available to assist the Chamber with activities such as the Crafts Fair, Scholars Luncheon, Business Showcase, Business Before Hours, Business After Hours, and our Visitor Center.
