Toe River Arts Studio Tours
Each year in early June and early December, Toe River Arts holds its weekend-long Studio Tour with as many as 100 local artists opening up their studios and inviting the public to come in, watch them at work, and talk about art. It’s a chance for artists and art-lovers to get together in a relaxed, friendly setting.
At Home With The Artists
The artists involved in the Studio Tour each year enjoy meeting people and showing them around their workshops and gallery spaces. Very often, customers become collectors, and collectors become friends. Toe River Arts sponsors a meet-the-artist reception at their Spruce Pine Gallery on Friday evening of the tour.
Studio Tours give people an opportunity to visit artists and galleries and purchase exquisite artwork and handmade crafts. During the Christmas Tour, buyers are able to find truly perfect one-of-a-kind gifts. It’s a chance to get something really great, and support local artists and craftspeople.
One of the best parts of the Studio Tour is being able to go backstage to the workshops and creative areas. Very often the artists live on or near the property where they work. So, the whole weekend is a glimpse into the lives of interesting people.
There are hundreds of artists and craftspeople who live & work in Yancey and Mitchell Counties. It’s fun to meet them in person and hear stories about their lives and backgrounds, and how they came to their work.
