About the Chamber
Meet the Team
Yancey County is located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, just 35 miles northeast of Asheville. An exceptional place to live, work, or visit, Yancey County is home to five of the highest mountains in the eastern United States including Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi River (6,684 feet).
Established in 1834, the town of Burnsville surrounds Main Street with independently-owned shops, restaurants, and art galleries. The iconic Town Square is a gathering place for the community where special events are held throughout the year.
The Chamber and Visitor Center are situated on West Main Street inside a former garage and filling station that served the townspeople for decades. A 1922 Dodge Roadster automobile in the lobby serves as a reminder of the building’s earlier days as a service station. Today the Chamber offers resources and information about local businesses, services, and attractions.
