1pm: Roan Mountain Moonshiners: T.V. Barnett and his band play nothing but east Tennessee style oldtime mountain music, they way it’s been played in these parts for hundreds of years.
3pm: Sam McKinney: A talented young local singer and guitarist from Spruce Pine, whose repertoire includes a dynamic mix of traditional and contemporary music. His captivating voice and guitar styles immediately engage the audience and leave them wanting more.
Sound Traveler. Bob & Patty Tatum, play acoustic vocal and instrumental renditions of popular classics from genres as diverse as classic rock & pop, folk, classy standards, country, blues, light jazz, and gospel on guitar, trumpet, bass, mandolin, harmonica, banjo, concertina, and percussion. What a time.
Penland School of Crafts sessions end with an auction of work donated by students, instructors, and friends. These auctions are celebrations of the work done in the classes and an opportunity for neighbors, travelers, and craft lovers to enjoy the energy of a Penland session. The proceeds from these auctions support scholarship programs. No admission charged. Auctions take place at 8:00 PM in the Flex building at Penland.
